A luxury retreat offering meaningful exploration of artistic expression combining creative photography and contemporary art.
In association with The ICM Experience.
Shona Perkins is delighted to be collaborating with Fee Dickson Reid, one of Scotland's finest award winning contemporary artists.
This Scottish 3 night retreat promises to offer you a truly meaningful experience of artistic expression, using your camera to see the essence of place and to reimagine the world in new ways through intentional camera movement (ICM).
And the experience doesn't stop there, you will also spend a day with Fee in her studio working with beautiful linen canvases and vibrant oils, drawing inspiration from your own ICM imagery to inspire your inner artist!
The connection between art and photography has been apparent for centuries. Many artists and fine art photographers seek inspiration from both mediums. Both photography and painting use the same fundamental elements such as light, space, colour, line, texture and more.
At Capture to Canvas you will learn to understand and work with the beautiful art of intentional camera movement with Scottish ICM photographer Shona, whilst learning how to translate your very own images onto canvas with Fee.
Throughout this retreat, you will spend time at multiple beaches in central Scotland along the beautiful East Lothian coast, experience the sunrise and enjoy the serene and tranquil tones of blue hour. We will also ensure there is plenty of down time too so you can relax in the hotel spa, helping to bring equilibrium to both mind and body.
This premium experience will allow you to completely immerse yourself in the quiet solitude and tranquillity one gets from spending time by the sea. A treat for all the senses!
Expect to switch off from the real world for a few days, spend time with likeminded creative photographers and inspire your inner artist.
Now that you have paid your £350 non refundable deposit, we just require your balance to pay of £1,300 due by Monday 10th July 2023.
By booking a workshop / retreat through this website and paying the agreed deposit, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
Fee Dickson Reid creates expressive, atmospheric large-scale sea and landscapes filled with a sense of calm and peace. Her work is about the solace of nature, the light filled skies above her local beaches, reflections on sand and water, the landscape changing in the seasons. She aims to find the ‘still point in a turning world’, to anchor the viewer to a place and a state of mind that is about tranquillity and connection to the natural world.
Fee paints primarily in oils in the studio or occasionally with mixed media in situ. Her paintings are almost always completed ‘alla prima’, all in one session, and usually respond to the immediate weather, season, or light she has experienced that day– spirit of place is a core element of her work.
Fee trained in architecture at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a 1stclass degree in 1996 and began exhibiting professionally as an artist in 2010.
An award winning artist, her work is held in collections private and public worldwide.
