Need to know

Moderate:

• Most locations we will visit are a short walking distance of parking, With a few that are a bit further. You must be able to walk on uneven ground, beaches and sometimes steep and slippery surfaces. We will also be spending long periods of time out in the elements which will require stamina and endurance. Good footwear and warm layers will be essential.  

Cameras and gear:

• Your camera will require shutter speed priority / manual mode capability.
• ND filters will be essential; 
• We recommend either a variable ND filter, or a  3 and 6-stop ND filter - I am happy to offer advice on these.
• Multiple batteries and charger / International plug adaptors if travelling from outside the UK.
• Waterproof camera bag / cover.
• Good capacity memory cards.
• Laptop and processing software.
• Tripod - optional.

Layering is key! 

• Bring warm, waterproof clothing.
• Lightweight layers are key!
• Waterproof trousers and a coat with a hood are a must!
• Hats and waterproof gloves.
• Walking boots and wellies.
• A full packing checklist will be issued to you prior to the commencement of the workshop.

Travel options:

• Complimentary transport will be available throughout the duration of the retreat. 
• A modern and comfortable nine-seater minibus will ensure that there is plenty of space for us. 
• There will also be a specified pick up and drop off from Stornoway.
• There is free parking available at the hotel if you decide to bring your own car.
