Need to know

Northumberland - November 2026

Enjoy the rejuvenating power of being by the sea, experience the rugged and wild beauty of the Northumberland Coast and be inspired by spending time with a small group of likeminded creative photographers. 


  • Pick up available from either Newcastle airport / Berwick Upon Tweed train station by 12pm Monday 2nd November.
  • Free roadside car parking available for those arriving by car.
  • Welcome lunch 1.30pm
  • Drop off back to Newcastle airport / Berwick Upon Tweed train station by 1pm Thursday 5th November. 

Itinerary

What your days may look like:


  • Sunrise shoot.
  • Delicious hearty cooked breakfast.
  • Image review and feedback.
  • Packed lunch out on location. 
  • Sunset shoot.
  • Back to the hotel for dinner and drinks and the chance to review the day.


Equipment

Cameras and gear:


  • Your camera will require shutter speed priority / manual mode capability.
  • ND filters will be essential.
  • We recommend either a variable ND filter, or a  3 and 6 stop ND filter - we are happy to offer advice on these.
  • Graduated ND filters and polariser are not essential but recommended.
  • You will also have the chance to try out Nisi filters throughout the workshop.
  • Multiple batteries and charger / International plug adaptors if travelling from outside the UK.
  • Waterproof camera bag / cover.
  • Good capacity and / or spare memory cards.
  • Laptop and processing software.
  • Lens cleaning cloth / kit.

Moderate:

 

  • Most locations we will visit are a short walking distance of parking, with a few that are a bit further. You must be able to walk on uneven ground, beaches and sometimes steep and slippery surfaces, as well as some cliff top paths. 
  • We will also be spending long periods of time out in the elements which will require stamina and endurance. Good footwear and warm layers will be essential.

Fitness level

Layering is key! 


  • Bring warm, waterproof clothing.
  • Lightweight layers are key!
  • Waterproof trousers and a coat with a hood are a must!
  • Hats and waterproof gloves.
  • Walking boots and wellies.
  • Wellies are the best way to keep your feet dry and are recommended. 
  • Re-usable water bottle & Thermos.
  • A full packing checklist will be issued to you prior to the commencement of the workshop.

  • Appropriate and comfortable transport will be provided for the duration of the retreat.
  • There will also be a specified pick up and drop off from available.
  • There is free parking available at the hotel if you decide to bring your own car.
  • If you need any help with your travel planning please don't hesitate to ask.
