JOIN US IN Wester Ross

Join us for a really special 5 night retreat based at the very edge of Loch Marie, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful lochs in Scotland, surrounded by antient forests, towering mountains and peaceful islands.

This will be a week exploring a highly diverse landscape, offering creative opportunities in abundance, with the coastline of Wester Ross being nothing short of spectacular, a mix of craggy cliffs, secluded sandy beaches and rocky coves. The forests are among the most ancient and atmospheric woodlands in Scotland, filled with native Scott's pine, birch, oak and rowan trees, that thrive beneath the Highland mountains. The many lochs are renowned for their calm beauty amidst their dramatic surroundings and the mountains are undoubtedly the most dramatic and iconic in Scotland.

Shona and Wendy have been working together for a couple of years now, leading successful creative retreats in Assynt, Sutherland, as well as some exciting longer term projects in the pipeline. Both share the same vision and values, the same work ethos and are both wholly invested in your personal development, whilst ensuring you have a fully immersive experience.

This really is a unique opportunity to spend time developing a more creative approach to your photography, using a variety of in camera techniques such as intentional camera movement and multiple exposures, as well as a chance to spend quality time delving into both Shona and Wendy's processing and editing workflow.

Technique is extremely important to Shona and whilst ICM photography demonstrates a certain creative freedom and experimentation, Shona applies a considered, focussed and disciplined approach to her work ensuring the best results are achieved in camera.  Often described as creating a sense of calm through her imagery, Shona manages to capture emotional depth, solitude, tranquillity and haunting beauty in her work, all whilst maintaining her distinctive painterly style.

Wendy Bagnall

Wendy is a photographic artist who lives in Surrey, England. The natural landscape is the inspiration behind her work, which is an interpretation of what she sees. Wendy's approach is unrestrictive and often with an abstract quality, augmenting the light, texture and topography of the landscape, creating pieces that aim to evoke an emotional connection with the viewer.

Wendy is not restricted to a single subject matter within the landscape, which is important, as it enables her to be authentic and driven by what she connects with. This affords her freedom, allowing Wendy's work to to span different landscape genres. Her approach is therefore diverse and she uses a range of in camera techniques to achieve the final result. Wendy becomes immersed in the landscape, lost in imagination and works without boundaries. Her work invites the viewer to find quiet from their internal voice, and become absorbed in abstract representations of natural forms.

Wendy has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition and the Toronto Photography festival. She sells limited edition, archival prints, and has worked with a variety of commercial clients.
