REGISTRATION OPENS EXCLUSIVELY TO OUR MAILING LIST MONDAY 10TH MARCH AT 5PM GMT
Shona Perkins and Fee Dickson Reid are passionate about their art and together they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience within their field. They met through their shared love for Scottish seascapes and whilst their work is across 2 very different mediums, both draw similarities in expression, evoking emotion and creating a sense of calm.
This 5 night luxury all inclusive retreat taking place in North Berwick, promises to offer you a truly meaningful experience of artistic expression, drawing inspiration from Shona and Fee's home town and responding to this in a way that is truly unique to you.
Throughout this retreat you will learn to work with creative photography techniques such as intentional camera movement (ICM photography), painting using oils on canvas, mixed media sketching and more. You will also have the opportunity to work on your post processing skills, using Lightroom and photoshop, enabling you to get the very best out of your images as well as helpful tips on how to improve your post image review workflow.
The connection between art and photography has been apparent for centuries. Many artists and fine art photographers seek inspiration from both mediums. Both photography and painting use the same fundamental elements such as light, space, colour, line, texture and more.
Throughout Capture to Canvas you will learn to understand and work with the beautiful art of intentional camera movement with Shona, whilst learning how to translate your very own images onto canvas with Fee.
This unique and special experience will allow you to completely immerse yourself in the quiet solitude and tranquillity one gets from spending time by the sea. A treat for all the senses!
Expect to switch off from the real world for a few days, spend time with likeminded creatives and inspire your inner artist.

Shona is a Scottish Photographer and the founder of My Beautiful Scotland.
Specialising in Seascape and ICM photography, heavily influenced by contemporary art and abstract minimalism, Shona has spent the past few years developing her love for intentional camera movement (ICM).
It is through her passion and extensive knowledge of this technique that earned her well deserved recognition and a regular spot in the esteemed ICM Photography Magazine.
Often described as creating a sense of calm through her imagery, Shona manages to capture solitude, tranquillity and haunting beauty in her work, all whilst maintaining her distinct style. And despite the apparent artistic freedom in ICM photography, Shona's work embodies a meticulous and disciplined approach, ensuring optimal results in camera.
Known as an inspirational leader, Shona also has a wealth of experience in coaching, mentoring and developing teams, having worked at a Senior level in Retail Management for 20+ years. Shona loves nothing more than helping people reach their full potential.
Fee Dickson Reid creates expressive, atmospheric large-scale sea and landscapes filled with a sense of calm and peace. Her work is about the solace of nature, the light filled skies above her local beaches, reflections on sand and water, the landscape changing in the seasons. She aims to find the ‘still point in a turning world’, to anchor the viewer to a place and a state of mind that is about tranquillity and connection to the natural world.
Fee paints primarily in oils in the studio or occasionally with mixed media in situ. Her paintings are almost always completed ‘alla prima’, all in one session, and usually respond to the immediate weather, season, or light she has experienced that day– spirit of place is a core element of her work.
Fee trained in architecture at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a 1stclass degree in 1996 and began exhibiting professionally as an artist in 2010.
An award winning artist, her work is held in collections private and public worldwide.
"One of my most cherished memories is the gathering around the dining table and all the care placed in the preparation of the incredible meals and a special comradeship amongst us. There was an openness to share our thoughts, our progress, and our feelings. I felt a bond that developed from the first hello and deeply moved by being a part of it all."
"Thank you for the most amazing few days. Thinking back on it now, it feels like we spent a month together and my life is much richer for having invested my time with you all and I am so grateful for the reciprocated investment. Words truly cannot express my gratitude for what you've built into my life and I will be forever changed because of these 5 days together. "
Shona's endless enthusiasm and superb technical skill inspired us all to embrace ICM photography and create some wonderful images. Working with Fee was truly an inspiration. As a newbie to oil painting she made me believe in myself and create pieces of artwork I could never have dreamed of.
"Capture to Canvas retreat was just perfect. You could not have done more to make it the enjoyable success that it was. Your sharing of inspirational ideas and technical information, not to mention beautiful locations, was just what I needed to jump start the next stage of my creative journey. Thank you!"
It was a pleasure to spend time with other “likeminded” individuals on the retreat, there was much laughter and it was also a great opportunity to exchange ideas and tips.
The whole experience was inspirational and made me keen to continue to develop both my ICM photography and painting skills.
Thank you Shona and Fee, it was a lovely experience!
