Shona Perkins has been visiting the Isle of Lewis and Harris for more than a decade and like so many others, has developed a deep emotional connection with the Island, being drawn in particular to the vibrancy of the landscape. An intricate and dramatic landscape that Shona translates through the use of intentional camera movement, which forms a large part of her portfolio.

ICM Photography Workshop / Tour - isle of harris

It is no secret or surprise that the Isle of Harris is regarded as one of the most beautiful places in the world, with a collection of globally renowned beaches - beaches that are comparable to those in the Caribbean during the Summer months, with white untouched sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Turning more wild, raw and desolate in the Winter months. Beaches where mountains literally fall into the Sea, sand dunes so vast you get lost in and a weather system like nowhere else.

In Harris, you will experience vibrant colour, beautiful soft light, big skies, fierce storms, whipping winds, lashing rain, glorious rainbows, and magical sunsets. A perfect playground for seascape and ICM Photography!

Shona Perkins

Known as an inspirational leader

Shona Perkins is a Scottish Photographer, specialising in Seascape and ICM Photography.

Heavily influenced by contemporary art and abstract minimalism, Shona has spent the past few years developing her passion for intentional camera movement (ICM photography).

Whilst largely self-taught, Shona previously enrolled with the British Academy of Photography gaining a greater knowledge of the fundamentals and complexities of digital photography.

Technique is extremely important to Shona and whilst ICM photography demonstrates a certain creative freedom and experimentation, Shona applies a considered, focussed and disciplined approach to her work ensuring the best results are achieved in camera.

Often described as creating a sense of calm through her imagery, Shona manages to capture emotional depth, solitude, tranquillity and haunting beauty in her work, all whilst maintaining her distinctive painterly style.

Known as an inspirational leader and speaker, Shona also has a wealth of experience in coaching, mentoring and developing teams, having worked at a Senior level in Retail Management for 20+ years. Shona loves nothing more than helping people reach their full potential and has been running photography workshops, creative retreats and private tuition for the past 3 years.

To reserve your place on this retreat, a non refundable deposit of £400.00 is due at the time of booking.
Once we have received your deposit, the contract between us will become binding and covers everyone you are booking on behalf of.
We will send you an invoice for the remaining balance and advise you of the date it is due, this will be due 3 months / 90 days prior to the commencement date of the workshop. All major credit cards, PayPal and bank transfers are accepted. For bank transfers, please contact us directly.
We strenuously recommend that you take out travel insurance as soon as you have booked your trip with us. This will protect you and your holiday arrangements from the unexpected before and during your trip. We are unable to offer advise on insurance.

Golden sand and turquoise water, it can only be. . .

What can I say? To spend six days in what must be one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to with Shona and five other photographers. From the get-go Shona radiated warmth, passion and professionalism. She gave of herself to everyone in the group - all the time keeping a gentle eye on who may need a little extra help and guidance. Her knowledge of the islands was second to none and throughout the whole holiday one sensed how proud she was - not just our location but also in what she represents in the world of ICM. (Not in a big headed way). . just that gentle, quiet confidence she had.

The ratio between being out in the field and post production back at the cosy hotel was well balanced. . . there was even time for a little downtime.

I am an ICM photographer but found Shona’s knowledge invaluable whilst photographing seascapes. I loved every minute of my time in Scotland and spending time with likeminded people. I will never forget this holiday and wholeheartedly recommend photography holidays with Shona and My Beautiful Scotland.

The Isle of Harris!

To say that I was shocked by my first few steps on the magnificent Luskentyre Beach would be a tremendous understatement! What a remarkable setting for any kind of photography but combined with Shona's expert patience and constructive technique demonstration, I was able to capture and bring home some of my favorite images ever.

ICM is a fun and effective way to add a new dimension to your photography. Whether you shoot landscape, wildlife, architecture or street, adding an abstract element to your capabilities will serve you well. And if you already shoot ICM, this might be the best place ever to do it.

Shona is a fun, smart and talented photographer who really enjoys these trips and her enjoyment is infectious. You'll love it.
