This is your chance to join Shona Perkins and Mark Cornick for a really special project based, creative seascape photography retreat in Northumberland. Based in Bamburgh, a beautiful coastal town in the heart of Northumberland, with pristine beaches, drifting sand dunes and magnificent castle views everywhere you turn.
Experience the wild and unspoilt coastline and the soft winter light, where we will discover hidden bays along over 30 miles of barely trodden beaches.
Focussing primarily on ICM photography, Shona and Mark will gently coach and guide you on all the processes, techniques and considerations they both apply to their own work, teaching you all there is to know about Intentional Camera Movement and creating ethereal and impactful images.
The locations we will visit also have potential for exploring a variety of abstract techniques and you will be encouraged to experiment with longer exposures, multiple exposures and more intimate scenes using colour, shape and texture.
Both Shona and Mark strongly believe in the importance of project based photography and building a coherent portfolio of work and will plan repeat visits to locations at different times of day to help you build a strong body of work you can be proud of, whilst giving you the greatest opportunity to experience the very best of this special location, capturing it in a way completely unique to you.
Expect a few days of creativity, inspiration, laughter, and support, all set within a relaxed, welcoming group atmosphere.

Shona is a Scottish Photographer, specialising in Seascape and ICM Photography. Heavily influenced by contemporary art and abstract minimalism, Shona has spent the past few years developing her passion for intentional camera movement (ICM photography).
Whilst largely self-taught, Shona previously enrolled with the British Academy of Photography gaining a greater knowledge of the fundamentals and complexities of digital photography.
Technique is extremely important to Shona and whilst ICM photography demonstrates a certain creative freedom and experimentation, Shona applies a considered, focussed and disciplined approach to her work ensuring the best results are achieved in camera.
Often described as creating a sense of calm through her imagery, Shona manages to capture emotional depth, solitude, tranquillity and haunting beauty in her work, all whilst maintaining her distinctive painterly style.
Known as an inspirational leader and speaker, Shona also has a wealth of experience in coaching, mentoring and developing teams and loves nothing more than helping people reach their full potential.
Mark is a Surrey based photographer who specialises in working on abstract and contemporary landscape projects in Coastal locations.
Mark has always felt a strong connection to the Coast, especially the beaches of West Cornwall, which he first set foot on from the age of just two months old!
With Marks work, he aims to not only to showcase the beauty of the Coastline, but to also talk about the importance of these areas as places for personal reflection, tranquillity, and mental well-being.
Mark met Shona in 2023 and they went on to form a collaborative partnership running their first joint workshops at West Wittering beach in West Sussex in April 2024.
Participants have praised their complimentary coaching styles as well as their shared passion for ICM and abstract seascape photography.

Registration opens exclusively to our mailing list Wednesday 12th November at 5pm GMT.
